Decluttr

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Decluttr collects, uses, stores, and protects information, including information from your Google Account when you choose to connect Google Calendar.

1. Introduction

Decluttr ("Decluttr", "we", "us") is a task and calendar planning application. It helps you create and organize tasks and, if you choose, keep them in sync with Google Calendar. Decluttr is operated by the Decluttr team, reachable at support@greyfeathers.io.

This Privacy Policy covers the information Decluttr collects through the application, including the information involved when you connect a Google account for Calendar sync.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: your name and email address, obtained when you sign in with your Google account.
  • Authentication information: a session token that keeps you signed in, stored as a cookie in your browser for up to 7 days.
  • Application data: the tasks you create, including title, description, tags, impact, effort/duration, location, date and time, and completion status.
  • Calendar-related information: if you connect Google Calendar, see Section 3 below for exactly what is accessed and stored.
  • Technical information: the ordinary information generated by using a web application, such as requests made to our servers. Decluttr does not use advertising or analytics trackers.

3. Google Account / Google Calendar Data

Connecting Google Calendar is optional and separate from signing in — you can use Decluttr's task features without ever connecting Calendar, and connecting requires a second, explicit authorization through Google's own consent screen, available from Settings.

Once you connect a Google account, Decluttr accesses:

  • The email address of the connected Google account, to label the connection.
  • The list of calendars on that account, so you can choose which one Decluttr syncs to.
  • Event details — title, description, location, and start/end time — for the calendar(s) you connect, and the ability to create, update, and delete events on your behalf.

Why: this access is what makes two-way sync work: when you schedule a task with a date and time and choose to sync it, Decluttr creates a matching Google Calendar event (updating or removing it as the task changes); and when an event appears or changes in a calendar you've connected, Decluttr creates or updates a matching task in your account.

What we store: the connected account's email address; your OAuth access and refresh tokens, encrypted before they are saved, so Decluttr can keep syncing without asking you to reconnect every time; and a record linking each task to its corresponding Google Calendar event id. Event details (title, description, location, time) that originate from Google Calendar are stored as the task itself in your Decluttr account, the same as any task you create directly.

Disconnecting: see Section 9 below.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

  • Authenticate you and keep you signed in.
  • Provide Decluttr's task and calendar planning features.
  • Sync tasks with the Google Calendar(s) you connect, as described in Section 3.
  • Send task reminder and overdue notifications, where enabled in Settings.
  • Diagnose and fix problems with the application.

Google Calendar data is used only to provide this scheduling functionality. We do not use Google Calendar data for advertising, ad targeting, profiling unrelated to the app's features, or selling data — and we do not sell personal data of any kind.

5. Google API Services User Data

Decluttr's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as follows:

  • Google: to provide Calendar sync for the account(s) you connect, as described above.
  • Infrastructure providers: our backend runs on Google Cloud, and our database stores application data on our behalf. These providers do not use your data for their own purposes.
  • Email delivery: transactional emails from Decluttr are sent through Gmail's SMTP service.
  • We may disclose information if required to comply with the law.

7. Data Storage and Security

Application data is stored in a database accessed only by our backend, which runs on Google Cloud. Your Google OAuth access and refresh tokens are encrypted before being stored. Your Decluttr session is managed with a signed token rather than a stored password.

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account and task data for as long as your account exists. Google Calendar tokens and calendar connections are retained until you disconnect that account or delete your Decluttr account.

Disconnecting a Google account immediately deletes its stored tokens, calendar connections, and event-sync links. Tasks already created in Decluttr — including any originally created from a Google Calendar event — are not deleted when you disconnect; they remain as regular tasks in your account.

Deleting your Decluttr account (Section 10) permanently and immediately removes all of your data, including any connected Google account tokens.

9. Disconnecting Google Calendar

You can disconnect a connected Google account at any time from the Google Calendar section of Settings within Decluttr. This immediately deletes the stored tokens, calendar connections, and event-sync links for that account from our database, and stops all future syncing.

Disconnecting in Decluttr removes our stored access but does not, by itself, revoke the grant on Google's side. To fully remove Decluttr's access to your Google account, you can also visit Google Account permissions and remove Decluttr there.

10. User Data Deletion

You can permanently delete your Decluttr account and all associated data — tasks, settings, and any connected Google account tokens — from the Delete Account option in Settings. This action is immediate and cannot be undone. If you have trouble accessing this option, contact us at support@greyfeathers.io.

11. Cookies

Decluttr uses a single functional cookie to keep you signed in (a session token, valid for up to 7 days). We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party tracking technologies.

12. Children's Privacy

Decluttr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@greyfeathers.io and we will delete it.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when we post the updated policy on this page, with the "Last updated" date above revised accordingly. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
